Manage your WhatsApp devices for sending and receiving messages through Whatify.
Overview
Device management allows you to:
- Connect multiple WhatsApp devices
- Monitor connection status
- Switch between devices
- Disconnect and reconnect devices
- View device information
Understanding Devices
What is a Device?
A device in Whatify represents a WhatsApp account connection:
- Each device uses a unique phone number
- One WhatsApp number = One device
- Multiple devices can be used in one organization
- Each device can send/receive messages independently
Device Limits
Based on your subscription plan:

Creating a Device
Add New Device
Create a new WhatsApp device connection:
- Navigate to Dashboard → Devices
- Click + Add Device or Create New Device
- Enter device information:
- Device Name (required) - Friendly name (e.g., "Customer Support", "Sales Team")
- Phone Number (optional) - The WhatsApp number you'll connect
- Description (optional) - Notes about this device
- Click Create Device
The device is now created and ready to connect.
Connecting a Device
Method 1: QR Code Connection
Connect using QR code (default method):
- Open your newly created device
- Click Connect Device
- A QR code will appear on screen
- Open WhatsApp on your phone:
- Android: Menu (⋮) → Linked Devices → Link a Device
- iPhone: Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device
- Scan the QR code with your phone
- Wait for connection to complete
- Status will change to "Connected"
Method 2: Pairing Code
Connect using 8-digit pairing code:
- Create or open device
- Click Connect with Pairing Code
- Enter your WhatsApp phone number
- Click Generate Code
- An 8-digit code will appear
- Open WhatsApp on your phone:
- Go to Linked Devices
- Tap Link a Device
- Tap Link with phone number instead
- Enter the 8-digit code
- Connection completes automatically
Connection Requirements
Before connecting:
- ✓ WhatsApp installed on your phone
- ✓ Phone has internet connection
- ✓ WhatsApp account is active
- ✓ Not already linked to maximum devices (4 linked devices max per WhatsApp account)
Device Dashboard
Viewing Devices
Navigate to Devices to see all your devices:
Device Card Shows:
- Device name and icon
- Connection status (Connected, Disconnected, Connecting)
- Phone number
- Last active time
- Messages sent/received count
- Quick actions (Connect, Disconnect, Settings)
Device Status
Status Indicators:
- 🟢 Connected: Device is online and ready
- 🟡 Connecting: Connection in progress
- 🔴 Disconnected: Device is offline
- ⚫ Never Connected: New device not yet connected
Device Information
Click on a device to view details:
- Device ID: Unique identifier
- Phone Number: Connected WhatsApp number
- Status: Current connection state
- Connected Since: Date and time of connection
- Last Active: Most recent activity
- Messages This Month: Sent/received count
- Storage Used: Data usage for this device
- WhatsApp Version: Client version information
Managing Devices
Renaming a Device
Change device name:
- Open device details
- Click Edit or the pencil icon
- Enter new name
- Click Save
Setting Default Device
Set which device to use by default:
- Open device details
- Click Set as Default
- This device will be used for:
- New API tokens
- Default messaging
- Automated campaigns
Disconnecting a Device
Temporarily disconnect:
- Open device
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm disconnection
- Device will be unlinked from WhatsApp
- Can reconnect anytime
Note: Disconnecting doesn't delete the device or its settings.
Reconnecting a Device
Reconnect a disconnected device:
- Find device in devices list
- Click Reconnect
- Follow QR code or pairing code steps
- Device will reconnect to WhatsApp
Deleting a Device
Permanently remove a device:
- Disconnect device first (if connected)
- Open device settings
- Click Delete Device
- Type device name to confirm
- Click Delete Permanently
Warning: This action cannot be undone. All device settings and API tokens linked to this device will be removed.

Configure device behavior:
- Auto-reconnect: Automatically reconnect if disconnected
- Message Queue: Keep unsent messages when disconnected
- Rate Limiting: Set sending speed limits
- Delivery Reports: Track message delivery status
- Read Receipts: Send read receipts for received messages
Notification Settings
Configure device notifications:
- Connection Alerts: Get notified when device disconnects
- Error Notifications: Alert on sending errors
- Daily Summary: Receive daily activity report
- Low Balance: Warning when approaching plan limits
Security Settings
Protect your device:
- 2FA Required: Require two-factor authentication
- IP Whitelist: Restrict API access to specific IPs
- Auto-logout: Disconnect after inactivity period
- Session Timeout: Maximum connection duration
Switching Between Devices
Use Multiple Devices
Work with several devices:
- Create multiple devices
- Connect each to different WhatsApp numbers
- Switch between them in:
- Messaging interface
- API requests
- Bulk campaigns
Per-Message Device Selection
Choose device when sending:
- Compose new message
- Click Select Device dropdown
- Choose from connected devices
- Send message through selected device

Device Won't Connect
QR Code Issues:
- Refresh QR code if expired (typically 60 seconds)
- Ensure phone camera works properly
- Check phone has internet connection
- Try pairing code method instead
Pairing Code Issues:
- Verify phone number is correct
- Ensure code hasn't expired (valid for 10 minutes)
- Check for typos in code entry
- Generate new code and try again
Messages Not Sending
Check Device Status:
- Verify device is connected
- Check phone has internet
- Ensure WhatsApp is running on phone
- Review message limits
Network Issues:
- Test with simple text message
- Check firewall settings
- Verify API token is valid
- Review rate limiting settings
