Overview
Whatify supports connecting WhatsApp devices using:
- QR Code - Scan with WhatsApp mobile app
- Pairing Code - Enter code in WhatsApp mobile app
You can connect multiple devices and manage them all from one dashboard.
First-Time Setup
Prerequisites
Before connecting:
- Active WhatsApp account on your mobile device
- WhatsApp app installed and updated
- Stable internet connection
- Browser that supports QR code display
Connecting Your First Device
- Navigate to Settings → WhatsApp
- Click Connect New Device
- Choose connection method (QR Code or Pairing Code)
QR Code Connection
The most common way to connect WhatsApp.
How to Connect
- Click Connect with QR Code
- A QR code will appear on screen
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile device
- Go to Settings → Linked Devices
- Tap Link a Device
- Point your camera at the QR code
- Wait for connection confirmation
QR Code Display Options
- Standard QR Code: Visual QR code on screen
- Raw QR Code: Text-based QR code data
- Refresh QR Code: Generate new code if expired
Troubleshooting QR Code
QR Code not displaying:
- Refresh the page
- Check internet connection
- Try different browser
- Clear browser cache
QR Code expired:
- Click Refresh to generate new code
- QR codes expire after 60 seconds
Scanning not working:
- Ensure good lighting
- Hold phone steady
- Clean camera lens
- Update WhatsApp app
Pairing Code Connection
Alternative method using a pairing code.
How to Connect
- Click Connect with Pairing Code
- Enter your phone number (with country code)
- Click Generate Code
- An 8-digit pairing code will appear
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile device
- Go to Settings → Linked Devices
- Tap Link a Device
- Tap Link with Phone Number Instead
- Enter the pairing code
- Wait for confirmation
Phone Number Format
Enter phone number with country code:
- Include country code (e.g., +1 for USA)
- No spaces or special characters
- Example:
+11234567890
Pairing Code Tips
- Code is valid for 10 minutes
- Code is case-insensitive
- Enter exactly as shown
- Generate new code if expired
Connection Status
Status Indicators
Your WhatsApp connection can have these statuses:
- Connected (Green) - Active and ready
- Disconnected (Red) - Not connected
- Connecting (Yellow) - Connection in progress
- Error (Red) - Connection failed
Checking Status
View connection status:
- Navigate to Settings → WhatsApp
- See status indicator at the top
- Click Refresh to update status
Connection Details
When connected, you'll see:
- WhatsApp phone number
- Account name
- Profile picture
- Connection time
- Last activity
Managing Devices
Multiple Devices
Connect and manage multiple WhatsApp devices:
- Each device appears in the device list
- Give each device a descriptive name
- Link API tokens to specific devices
- Monitor status of all devices
Device List
The device table shows:
- Device Name: Custom name you set
- Phone Number: WhatsApp number
- Status: Connection status
- API Hash: Internal identifier
- Connected At: When device was connected
- Actions: Edit, disconnect, delete
Naming Devices
Give devices descriptive names:
- Click Edit on a device
- Enter new name (e.g., "Production", "Sales Team")
- Click Save
Good naming examples:
- "Production Server"
- "Testing Device"
- "Sales Department"
- "Customer Support"
Default Device
Set a default device for API calls:
- Find the device in the list
- Click Set as Default
- This device will be used when no specific device is linked to an API token
Disconnecting Devices
Temporary Disconnect
Disconnect without removing:
- Find the device
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm disconnection
The device remains in your list but becomes inactive. You can reconnect anytime.
Permanent Removal
Completely remove a device:
- Disconnect the device first
- Click Delete
- Confirm deletion
Warning: This removes all device data. You'll need to reconnect from scratch.
Force Disconnect
If a device won't disconnect normally:
- Click Force Disconnect
- Confirm action
- Device will be forcefully logged out
Use this if:
- Normal disconnect fails
- Device is stuck in "connecting" state
- Need to reset connection
